Deliverance from Vile Worship

A Brahmin called Pibek of Kamakshitirth, Assam, used to terrorise people with his black magic. When Neelkanth arrived there along with some accomplished yogis, Pibek commanded them to discard their kanthis and to submit to him. But Neelkanth challenged the power-intoxicated Pibek, "You may first try your powers on me." Incensed with fury, Pibek exhibited his magical powers by throwing charmed grains on a green tree, and reduced it to ashes. The arrogant Pibek tried to exercise his black magic on Neelkanth, but in vain. Defeated, Pibek fell at the feet of Neelkanth. The Lord forgave his sins, delivered him from the lure of black magic and infused true devotion in his heart. Thus by delivering people from the tangles of superstitions, malpractices and perverse faiths, Neelkanth regenerated true Vaishnavi devotion, coupled with spiritual knowledge.
